An attractive c.1830's quarter leather edition of Wilberforce's classic on authentic, experimental Christianity printed here by the American Tract Society and, apparently and unusually, not edited. Many early reprint editions were heavily abridged.

About as nice a little copy as can be had reasonably any more.

Wilberforce, William. A Practical View of the Prevailing Religious System of Professed Christians, in the Higher and Middle Classes, Contrasted with Real Christianity. From a Late London Edition. New York. American Tract Society. Nd. c.1830's. 375pp

[With]

Flavel, John [1627-1691]. The Touchstone of Sincerity, or Trial of True and False Religion. New York. American Tract Society. Nd. c.1830's. 96pp.

This edition was issued as one volume of the ATS's series, the Evangelical Family Library. The whole was designed to be ideal reading for Christians. It's fitting that Wilberforce's work, so influential, was the second volume they issued.

Good -, handsome on the shelf. Quarter black leather, very solid and usable, some rubbing to spine, moreso to boards which are bumped and rubbed through. Moderately foxed throughout as usual, and a bit more at prelims and rears, again as usual. A very solid, vintage reading copy.
