An absolutely superb and finely preserved desirable second corrected and expanded edition of Daniel Neal's seminal history of Puritanism and the Puritans themselves, from the late 16th century through the persecutions and emigrations to American in the early 17th century, the Solemn League and Covenant of the 1630's, and the Westminster Assembly and Civil War under Cromwell of the 1640's, etc.,

They just don't come much finer than this. Very handsomely presented, in two imposing 4to half calf bindings, wide margins, and exceptionally clean and crisp. Aside from some very minor rubbing and a slight fade line to cloth on boards, a near fine set. To my recollection, the best we have handled.

Neal, Daniel. The History of the Puritans; or Protestant Non-Conformists, from the Reformation Under King Henry VIII to the Act of Toleration under King William and Queen Mary: With an Account of their Principles, their Attempts for a Further Reformation in the Church; and the Lives and Characters of their Most Considerable Divines. Second Edition Corrected. London. Printed for J. Buckland, at the Buck in Pater-Noster-Row, and J. Waugh and W. Fenner, at the Turk's Head in Lombard Street, 1754. 900 + 883pp.

Very good condition in imposing 4to size measuring 7.5 x 11 inches. Some minor rubbing, red cloth on boards slightly faded, some rather negligible scattered foxing. On the whole crisp, clean, bright, and with nice wide margins.
