A very scarce imprint giving what appear to be fictional accounts of black and mulatto children in the South following reconstruction.

The first recount seeing four black "Nubian" children basking in the mid-day sun, contrasting their love for the heat with their need for parasols and shade. It contains extensive black-colloquial passages, phrases such as "some of dem n**** shlda neve bin freed" etc. The next, The Black and the Gray Prince, details the life of a young mulatto, etc. Illustrated.
