John William Kirton [b.1831]. Minister and one of the most influential British temperance speakers and authors of the 19th century. Authored The Four Pillars of Temperance, A Thousand Temperance Anecdotes, Standard Temperance Dialogues, etc.,
Richard Lovett [b.1851]. Influential minister in the Countess of Huntingdon’s Connexion and today remembered as a prolific author with the Religious Tract Society, including biographies of James Chalmers, James Gilmour, works on the history of Bible Translation, etc., He also became a Director of the London Missionary Society.
Helen Cadbury Alexander [b.1877]. Heir to the Cadbury fortune, but remembered as Mrs. Charles A. Alexander, herself a hymnist and author and her husband the Ira D. Sankey of the R. A. Torrey crusades.
Alexander Whyte [b.1837]. One of the most influential Scottish divines of the day. His works on Pilgrim’s Progress and his appreciations of the mystics and puritans are still sought and worthwhile.
Borden Parker Bowne [b.1847]. Influential American Christian philosopher who was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature nine times.
